Object + Installation Design
Netherlands | South Korea
Jun Hyoung Kim is an object and installation designer based between the Netherlands and South Korea. His work explores the relationship between objects and belief, drawing from everyday experiences as well as broader social and cultural contexts. For Jun, belief is not something fixed, but a way people make sense of uncertainty through repeated habits, patterns, and shared assumptions.
His practice has focused on participation and user experience within installation environments. Instead of treating the viewer as a passive observer, he encourages physical and sensory engagement, allowing people to experience ideas directly rather than simply observe them. Through this interaction, the audience forms a quiet dialogue with the work and begins to reflect on how belief operates in daily life.
By asking simple but open questions such as “Why does this happen?” or “Why do people think this way?”, his work creates space for reflection rather than clear answers. By reworking familiar objects and situations, he reveals the subtle tension between belief and doubt, returning again and again to a fundamental question: Why do we come to believe in certain things?
