Modern people are accustomed to monotonous tactile activities of swiping on smartphone screens or pressing keyboards. Even young children lose the opportunity to fully develop their five senses by tapping on smartphone screens instead of playing various tactile games.

Tentacletips are thimble-type devices that amplify the user’s tactile senses. Eventually, however, the user loses his original delicate touch by continuing to rely on this device and relies only on mechanically converted data.

After all, the device advertises that it amplifies or assists the user’s touch, but it actually desensitizes and distorts the natural human touch. Tentacletip is a work that expresses the phenomenon where human hands and
tactile abilities gradually deteriorate due to the use of smartphones, the Internet, and labor by robots and artificial intelligence. Although the pace of technological
development is increasing, consideration of human physical evolution or side effects are neglected in this process.

When senses are digitized and transmitted, are they the same as the original senses?

Can digitalized senses really be said to be a part of us?
